In 1988, Tiger Pause began as a small drop-in center for at-risk youth who needed a nutritious meal and a safe haven from the dangers of inner city life. Tiger Pause has a longstanding tradition of raising the quality of the workforce, enhancing productivity in schools, reducing crime and helping individuals and families take steps toward self-sufficiency.
Tiger Pause has expanded to six locations. Additionally, our Furniture Bank allows low-income families to work for household items. Coming soon, our Beez Cafe coffee shop will serve as a gathering place for the downtown community. Additionally, a donated parsonage houses staff; a church building serves as the meeting place for Tiger Pause’s largest after-school program; and several remodeled homes are rented or sold below market value to families in need.
