MISSION Tiger Pause is a Christ-centered, community-based organization that serves Beaver County’s young people and their families. Our desire is to provide individuals from all walks of life with opportunities to participate in quality programs that help them reach their God-given potential. We preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and watch the Lord redeem lives, build leaders and transform communities. IMPACT In 1988, Tiger Pause began as a small drop-in center for at-risk youth who needed a nutritious meal and a safe haven from the dangers of inner city life. Tiger Pause has a longstanding tradition of raising the quality of the workforce, enhancing productivity in schools, reducing crime and helping individuals and families take steps toward self-sufficiency. In the last three years, Tiger Pause has expanded to five locations. A furniture bank allows low-income families to work for household items; a coffee shop serves as a gathering place for the downtown community; a donated parsonage houses staff; a church building serves as the meeting place for Tiger Pause’s largest after-school program; and several remodeled homes are rented or sold below market value to families in need. CORE VALUES • Take the Gospel to the city. • Model a godly lifestyle and foster a loving family environment. • Disciple youth to be fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. • Build relationships based on trust and respect. • Maintain excellence and integrity in programs and services. • Practice responsible stewardship. THE FUTURE Building a Community Center in Beaver Falls Property has been donated, zoned and cleared with architectural plans to build a $25 million center. This building will offer an indoor skate park, a café, a basketball court and an all-purpose room that can hold 200-300 young people. A central meeting place would allow Tiger Pause to consolidate its programs, which are currently spread over five sites within two miles of Big Beaver’s middle school and high school. Building the shell will cost an estimated $250,000 and after that, older Tiger Pause students will build the interior walls, install plumbing and configure electrical wiring under the watchful eyes of skilled contractors. This will instill a sense of ownership and help the Tiger Pause ministry flourish in years to come. |
